The First Dangerous Obstacle Course

Vex 1 places the player in control of a quick stick figure inside a world filled with deadly traps. The goal is to complete a group of acts by running, jumping, climbing, sliding, and swimming toward each exit.

The character moves with the arrow keys or W, A, S, and D. Press up or W to jump. Press down or S to crouch and slide beneath low spaces. Jumping against walls allows the character to climb narrow shafts.

The controls respond fast, but the stages demand accurate movement. A jump that begins a moment too soon may place the character directly on a spike.

Reaching the Next Checkpoint

Red flags appear throughout the acts. Touching one changes it to green and saves the current position. A fall or collision then returns the character to that checkpoint instead of the beginning of the act.

Reaching each flag gives the player a smaller goal. It also allows difficult sections to be practised without repeating every earlier obstacle.

Checkpoints do not remove the danger. A trap may sit only a few steps beyond a flag. Players should pause for a moment and study moving objects before continuing.

Running Past Traps

Vex 1 includes spikes, crushing platforms, spinning blades, sharp throwing stars, and moving surfaces. Most dangerous objects defeat the character with one touch. Water areas also require controlled swimming to avoid getting trapped below the surface.

Sliding helps the character pass under low barriers while keeping some speed. Wall jumps provide access to high ledges. Long running jumps work better when the character reaches the edge with enough speed.

Each completed act receives a result based on the finishing time. Players can return and search for a faster route after learning the trap positions.

Vex 1 keeps its art simple and places the focus on movement. Every act tests timing, control, and memory. The player must learn from each failed attempt and keep moving toward the next green flag.
